Fauquier Food Bank & Thrift Store: More Than Just a Place to Donate

Back to school season is the perfect time to declutter your home and donate to a thrift store because it's a natural period of transition. As families prepare for the new school year, they often find themselves clearing out old clothes, books, and supplies to make room for new ones. If you still have items to donate, look no further than the Fauquier Community Food Bank and Thrift Store. This is no ordinary thrift store; it’s a cornerstone of community support.

The Fauquier Community Food Bank and Thrift Store stands out for its multifaceted approach to helping those in need. From providing backpacks for youth, to assisting individuals in recovery by offering them clothing for job interviews, this nonprofit goes beyond simple transactions. Sharon Ames, who serves as the executive director, summed up the mission of the organization best when she shared, "the service provided is not just about the exchange of goods but about building long-term relationships with the individuals who come to the food bank or thrift store."

What makes this thrift store truly unique is its integrated approach to community support. The revenue generated from the sale of items in the thrift store is used to purchase food for the food bank. The food bank serves at least 45 families each day. This means that every time you shop or donate, you're not only providing resources to those in need, but also helping to feed families in our community.
